Activities
Students Analyze Data
- Have the class or each student group review, analyze and summarize the data collected from the experiment. What conclusions can they draw? What evidence can they provide that backs up their conclusions. You will probably need to give some examples for how the groups can organize their data. In group discussion, encourage them to answer the following questions:
- What evidence do they have of the problem before their experiment?
- What change did they make? They need to be specific.
- What evidence do they have of what the situation was after their treatment?
- Was there a change?
- If there was a change... what could have been the reason? Brainstorm all possible answers, including the treatment.
- If there was not a change... why not? What could have been different?
- Assist the class or each group in writing a letter to the principal or school board about their conclusions and plan to renovate the nation. Emphasize that it is often just as important to report something that did not work as it is to report what did work.
- Participation grade: Give grades based on class discussion.
