What's the Story? Lesson 4
This lesson is the fourth of five lessons to be conducted over a
three-week period and will take the full class period. Conduct this
lesson at the end of the three-week period — Thursday of the third
week. Students should have completed their surveys before this lesson.
Today, you will:
- Guide group discussions based on collected survey data.
- Review the Presentation
Rubric with the class.
- Prepare for group presentations.
- Guide students in completing presentations started in Lesson 2.
Preparation
- Set up computer lab for students to review their resources. Each
group should have access to at least one computer with Internet access.
- Print and duplicate Presentation
Rubric, one for each student.
- Be sure students have access to the presentations they started in
Lesson 2.
Activities
Students Analyze Data
- Have each student group review the completed surveys. The group
should work together to fill out the last page of the survey,
summarizing their data. What conclusions can they draw? Use the slide
prompts in the presentation template to prompt their conclusions. You
will need to help the students replace the data in the graphs in the
presentations to reflect the data of their own surveys.
Group Presentation Development Activity
- Share the Presentation
Rubric with students so they understand their goals
for presentation.
- Students should prepare the first part of the presentation they
completed in previous lessons.
- Complete group presentations, adding in data about the surveys.
Guide students in selecting appropriate tables or graphs to display
their data.
